A slab built fat teapot with lid, filter, handle and four small legs. Glazed on the inside with a thick layer of white glaze, fired to 1250ºC. The black body is a high iron stoneware with a thin grog. Has a wife similar in shape and size.

These pieces have been slab built in a grog black stoneware very rich in iron which gives the black color to the piece. The iron level makes the firing temperature a challenge to avoid deformations of the handles and other special shapes. Glazes react to the iron levels in the clay body causing some very special effects. The very thin grog makes little sparkle points on the surfaces.

This piece is dishwasher safe and food safe, although please take care, washing by hand is the best option. Thin edges can be susceptible to chipping if they’re bashed so please handle your pieces with care. I always hand wash my handmade pieces.
